(OVERVIEW)

This work supported multiple CDC initiatives through the creation of social media graphics, custom sticker designs, thumbnail imagery for the Injury Center and external facing PDF materials for hiring campaigns. Across each deliverable, the goal was to strengthen public engagement and improve how CDC communicates health and safety information to diverse audiences. The design work translated complex public health topics into clear, accessible and visually consistent assets that could perform effectively across digital and print environments.

(THE CHALLENGE)

The primary challenge was designing for extreme accessibility and representation across a broad and diverse public audience. CDC communications must resonate with individuals of different ages, cultural backgrounds and lived experiences, including elders, young adults, people with disabilities and military communities. At the same time, the content needed to remain visually engaging and easy to understand across multiple formats, from small social media thumbnails to longer form PDF documents, without losing clarity or consistency.

(OUR APPROACH)

The approach focused on clarity, inclusivity and system based design thinking. I developed adaptable visual assets that could scale across platforms while maintaining strong hierarchy and readability. Imagery and illustration choices were intentionally inclusive, reflecting a wide range of people and experiences to ensure audiences felt represented in CDC communications. For digital content such as social media graphics and Injury Center thumbnails, I prioritized bold composition and accessible typography, while PDF materials were structured for readability and ease of navigation. Across sticker designs and campaign assets, the visual language remained cohesive, reinforcing CDC’s credibility and public trust.

(RESULTS & IMPACT)

The final designs strengthened CDC’s ability to communicate effectively across multiple public facing channels by improving clarity, accessibility and engagement. The system of visuals helped ensure that health and safety messaging reached broader and more diverse audiences in a consistent and approachable way. By elevating both the tone and visual quality of CDC materials, the work supported greater public awareness, improved content usability and reinforced CDC’s mission of promoting health, safety and inclusion at scale.
